We’ve been working on the sitting thing for a while but Zuzu has been more interested in assisted standing, which has been fine with us, and we’ve figured when she’s ready to sit she will so we haven’t pushed it. On Saturday while we were in Ames visiting family, she was perched on my lap for a bit before I realized she was sitting! I took away my hands and she sat there for a couple of minutes without falling over – and a roomful of witnesses to vouch that she sat by herself for the first time.
On an unrelated note, last night we met with the contractor to remedy the problem that caused a very wet basement in August. Remember how I said that having our basement flood would turn into a house project that grows exponentially? The foundation of our house says welcome, Mr. Jackhammer and hello Mrs. Drainage System! How lovely to meet you, Miss Backup Sump Pump! Make yourself comfortable, Madame Exterior Drainage Line! We’re thinking that removing the contents and shelves from our storage room is going to be loads of fun (note overtones of sarcasm), but not nearly as exciting as pulling up part of our deck (anyone have experience with this?).
p.s. we’ve really appreciated some of the recent comments – zuzu likes knowing that people read her blog!

That picture of Zuzu is adorable! Those milestones are so memorable- glad it happened surrounded by loved ones :)
Oh, the basement flooding- the rains got us as well. This is one time I'm happy to still be a renter. Let us know if you guys need some extra hands when it all gets underway.
OK, I can take the hint, and leave a comment! I love reading about Zuzu and seeing her lovely smiling face. I'm just not sure you always want to know when your nosy neighbor is checking in! As for the house project(s), we have been so unbelievably fortunate to have escaped any flooding. It seems many around us have been not so lucky. Let us know if there's anything we (or Damon!) can do to help.
PS, Just had to tell you I totally stole your poll idea. And in all my creativity, I'm even starting with the same question, although not about Zuzu, but about Max, and of course he doesn't look like your cat, so I've come up with my own answers as well. (Not too original, I know, but you've got to start somewhere!) That's so cool that you can do that! Hopefully I'll be coming up with all sorts of intriguing/funny/silly questions in the future.
oh, also, I voted, and I'm sorry, but as very lovely as Zuzu is - and she is extremely lovely - I just couldn't bring myself to vote that she's the cutest baby in the world, because I'm just understandably a little biased right now towards Zuzu's newest neighbor. So in case you're wondering who voted that she looks like Jenn, it was me!
I saw Zuzu sit up! acctully, I was the one right bye Jenn!
This is my favorite picture of Zuzu. It's on my school computer desk top, and whenever it comes on, it brings a smile to my face and makes it a great day. I just love Zuzu's smile and big wide eyes! ....Ama
